About Us

What we do

The Worship Office is in charge of the liturgies for Ordinations, Confirmations, Chrism Masses and RCIA Pilgrimages at the Cathedral of St. Mary of the Assumption. It also assists in training lay people to serve at the parishes in the role of Readers and Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, Funerals and Weddings.

  • Preparing Archdiocesan Liturgies such as Ordinations, the Chrism Mass, and Christian Initiation rites;

  • Serving the Archdiocesan Worship Commission and its committees;

  • Providing catechetical opportunities such as workshops, classes, and programs regarding liturgy and public prayer;

  • Advising clergy, religious, and lay ministers in matters of liturgical norms, practices, and related pastoral issues.

We provide leadership, support, and information services regarding matters pertaining to liturgy, prayer and worship in service to the Archbishop and the local Church, particularly to ordained and lay ministers in parishes and other Catholic communities.  Our Office serves the Archdiocese of San Francisco in
